A User’s Guide to Authenticity is a Feeling

For the twenty years of PME-ART, Jacob Wren has written a book: Authenticity Is a Feeling: My Life in PME-ART, a blend of history, memory and performance theory. However, a book on performance is never complete without a performance in itself. A User's Guide to Authenticity Is a Feeling completes Wren's work by offering a disorderly and fun conference documenting the impressions and reactions of collaborators present and past of PME-ART on work collective. The work ultimately aims to strengthen the hope that the combination of art and politics can further change the world.

For more than 20 years, PME-ART has presented works in more than 50 cities in Quebec, Canada, Europe, Japan and the United States, including at ICA (London), Kaaitheater (Brussels), FFT (Düsseldorf), Spielart (Munich), the Kiasma Museum (Helsinki), Harbourfront Centre (Toronto), PuSh Festival (Vancouver), Mois Multi (Québec City) and the Musée d'art contemporain (Montreal). PME-ART was nominated for the 27th Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal (New artistic practices) in 2012. PME-ART’s works include Toutes les chansons que j’ai composées, which was presented at La Chapelle in collaboration with La Biennale de Montréal (2016), as well as Adventures can be found anywhere, même dans la mélancolie, Le DJ qui donnait trop d’information, HOSPITALITÉ 3: l’individualisme est une erreur, as well as La famille se crée en copulant, Le Génie des autres-Unrehearsed Beauty, and En français comme en anglais, it's easy to criticize.
