Performed by award-winning Krump dancer 7Starr, Anima / Darkroom deep-dives into the gap between loneliness and communion. The raw lexicon of the Los Angeles-born street dance is in dialogue with an alphabet of light, silence, noise and darkness. Known for its unequivocal speed of expression, the style’s essential materials stretch across new scores in this collaboration. Bereavement’s dull-sharp feeling underwrites Lucy M. May’s choreography. Its scaffolding upholds the soloist’s lucid freestyle. With light designs by Jon Cleveland, music by Patrick Conan and veteran Krump beat-maker Big Rulez, the effort to listen and be heard, to bear witness and be seen reverberate. Do you see me?

The discussion with the artists on September 30 will be conducted by Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep.
